What is CHIMC?
CHIMC stands for Community Health Improvement for Milwaukee's Children. CHIMC is a project that works closely with community members to reduce immunization disparities in Milwaukee. CHIMC works with immunization agencies located in the following zip codes: 53203, 53205, 53206, 53208, 53209, 53210, 53212, 53216, 53218, and 53233.
What is so unique about CHIMC?
CHIMC uses a research method called community-based participatory research (CBPR). It is a research approach through which community members and academic researchers meet regularly to discuss the development of the project and research activities. Community members become active researchers and make important decisions about the project.
